Service Skills Victoria
Home Economics Victoria in partnership with the peak industry advisory body Service Skills Victoria offers two industry endorsed programs for teachers of VET Hospitality. The programs assist secondary school teachers to acquire the industry knowledge and skills required to deliver the core units of the Hospitality VET in Schools (VETis) program. The programs are reviewed annually by the Hospitality Industry Professional Development Committee (managed by Service Skills Victoria). Following completion of the programs a Certificate of Industry Recognition from Service Skills Victoria is provided.
Introduction to Hospitality
The Introduction to Hospitality Program is developed in consultation with the Hospitality Industry Professional Development Committee (managed by Service Skills Victoria) to ensure content is industry relevant and meets industry standards. The course is designed to provide secondary school teachers with an understanding of the hospitality industry through study and practical application in the core units from the nationally recognised SIT07 Tourism, Hospitality and Events Training Package. Refer to the Professional Learning section of the website for further details and enrolment.
Hospitality Industry Update Program
This one-day Industry Recognition Program has been developed by Service Skills Victoria (SSV) to directly correlate with the requirements of the SIT07 Tourism Hospitality and Events Training Package. The aim of the program is to recognise skills obtained by VET in schools (VETis) teachers that address the training package requirements of maintaining industry currency. Teachers are required to update these skills biennially to maintain currency. Refer to the Professional Learning section of the website for further details and enrolment.
